NIHR EME Programme: Mechanisms of action of health interventions in patients with MLTCs

The Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Programme funds ambitious studies evaluating interventions with potential to make a step-change in the promotion of health, treatment of disease and improvement of rehabilitation or long-term care. Within these studies, EME supports research in the mechanisms of diseases and treatments. EME is a partnership between the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the NIHR. The EME Programme invites applications for research into the mechanisms of action of health interventions in studies recruiting patients with multiple long-term conditions (MLTC). The proposed research may involve the analysis or reanalysis of previously stored specimens or data. For eligible studies (see below), the project may involve the collection of new specimens or new data for analysis, provided it is obtained from the original study participants.
