Wednesday, 09 Dec 2020 | Funding Deadline
The NIHR and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has launched a joint research call to fund ambitious and comprehensive research into the longer term physical and mental effects of COVID-19.
There is now increasing medical evidence showing that a small but significant minority of people who contract and survive COVID-19 report chronic symptoms ranging from breathlessness, chronic fatigue, 'brain fog', anxiety and stress for months after initially falling ill. These ongoing problems, commonly termed ‘Long COVID’, may be experienced by patients regardless of how severe their COVID-19 infection was and irrespective of whether they were hospitalised.
The NIHR and UKRI have jointly funded major studies to characterise acute and longer term disease in hospitalised patients, for example the UK-wide ISARIC-4C and Post hospitalisation COVID-19 (PHOSP-COVID) study.
Deadline for proposals: 9th December 2020
