Webinar: Learn about the NIHR Incubator for Methodology

  Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 | Webinar

Research methodologists are critical to the design, conduct and delivery of research in health and care.

The NIHR Incubator for Methodology  is the latest in a number of NIHR research capacity building initiatives. It  was created in April 2020 to increase capacity in methodology by focusing on how to attract people to careers in methodology.

This webinar will inform you of the incubator activities so far, outline future plans and let you know how the incubator will involve stakeholders and methodologists. It will also include a Q&A to hear perspectives from the community and answer any questions.

The NIHR Incubator for  Methodology  is focusing on methodologists, such as statisticians, qualitative researchers, economists and trialists. To expand capacity we need to attract and retain more people into applied methodology as a career.

We also need to tailor training and methodological research funding so methodologists can develop and move into growing important applications such as multiple long-term health conditions.

The NIHR and NIHR research infrastructure (Applied Research Collaborations, Research Design Service, Clinical Trials Units and Biomedical Research Centres) present diverse opportunities and challenges for methodologists and the incubator seeks their involvement and from stakeholders throughout NIHR.

Who should attend this webinar

  • Methodologists  at all career stages (e.g. trialists, qualitative researchers, statisticians, economists)
  • NIHR Academy Members
  • Stakeholders (e.g Investigators with experience of working closely with methodologists)
